Notes for Version 3.x

Simply Modern version 3.x marks a major landmark in the Simply Modern project. Previous versions were based on the Newsflash theme. Version 3.x has scrapped all the previous code and been rebuilt from the ground up. Many of the features that were in version 1.x are still in 3.x, some features were removed, some were added, and some still need to be implemented. It is recommended that users happy with version 1.x stick with that for the time being as version 3.x may require significant changes to their site.

Some of the key features of the new version are as follows:

  • tableless layout
  • 10 User Regions
  • built in skinr block classes provide support for many block layouts (this requires the skinr module)
  • Drupal 6 functionality
  • Tested in IE 6, IE 7, IE8, Chrome, Firefox and Safari
  • Five preset color options (todo: currently only one color)
    • Copper
    • Green
    • Blue
    • Black
    • Red
  • Custom page width, including fluid width
  • Customize sidebar widths
  • Sidebars can be on the left, right or split for 1, 2 or 3 column design (todo: currently only split columns.)
  • Suckerfish menus
